HB4 Product Information: Not all floorstanding speakers are created equal. The Heybrook HB4 stands out from the pack with a three-way design that opens up the full frequency spectrum. "Clear, sharp and lively," is how the October 2000 issue of England's Hi-Fi News describes the Heybrook. "This was an unusually likeable loudspeaker which had the litheness of a classy compact with the bass extension and tonal range of a much bigger box."

The HB4 relies on an advanced three-way, ported, floorstanding design featuring a 6.5" kevlar bass driver, a 5.1" kevlar midrange driver and a 1" soft dome tweeter. The substantial cabinet with an integral driver support brace provides mechanical grounding for the bass unit, and a vertical, asymmetrically positioned, "figure-eight" brace minimizes resonance in the larger panels. The front baffle consists of multi-density MDF wood construction a full 1.3" thick for exceptional strength and stability for the drivers. A hard-wired crossover network featuring simple first-order filters contributes to the HB4's explosive dynamic range and superb stereo imaging.

The cabinet incorporates a separate chamber that you can fill with sand or shot for extra mass and resonance control. Carpet piercing spikes are included. Gold plated, bi-wireable input terminals let you get the maximum sonic performance from the Heybrooks.

 Octet

O S SERVICES re-introduced Heybrook loudspeakers to the North American market after a hiatus of four years, and all existing Heybrook customers and prospective new customers will have an opportunity to enjoy this classic British line once again. In addition to the highly regarded HB series, Heybrook now has two home theater systems and a new reference line utilizing the amazing Audax HD-3P gold foil gas-filled piezo tweeter, flat to 25KHz, with the detail and sparkle of an electrostatic and the dynamics and SPL usually associated with dynamic drivers. The Octet, seen on the left, is the top of the Heybrook line, 6ohms and 92dB sensitivity, ideal for tube amplification as well as solid state. Two other models using the Audax tweeter include the Duet mini-monitor and the Quintet floor-standing model, both of which share the extremely smooth and extended treble response of the Octet.

HEYBROOKBACKGROUND & DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
Heybrook Background

Heybrook Hi Fi Ltd is a long established specialist British Company with a global reputation for producing Hi Fi with excellent sound quality. Founded in 1978, the company name was inspired by the scenic coastline of nearby Heybrook Bay in Devon. In 1996 Heybrook crossed the River Tamar and is now located in South West Cornwall, in its purpose built factory on the outskirts of the market town of Liskeard.

The manufacture of fine speakers started with the HB2 whose compact and innovative design set new standards soon to be followed by others. In 1982 the now famous, HB1 was produced. It was voted Best Loudspeaker under £250 by readers of What Hi Fi for the years 1984, 1985 and 1986 and is the only British Loudspeaker to have won the award three years in succesion. This outstanding achievement was followed by the highest accolade of Four Ears from the German magazine Audio, whose readers voted it their most popular loudspeaker in 1988.

With numerous other accolades from around the world the HB1 has crossed the barrier of time and become a classic. It is still being manufactured today, in the upgraded series 3 version, with a modern bi-wireable crossover and more recently, double magnets on the bass unit to give partial shielding. The series 3 was awarded a 'Best Buy' from Hi Fi Choice and in France the Palmares Gold disc award.

Heybrook have continued to develop new award winning products and the expertise has been expanded to include electronics, stands and cables which have reinforced the Heybrook name for producing first class hi fi that conveys the spirit as well as the sound of music.
